About Association
SPT - The Tourist Guides Association in Cracow was established in 1989 by profesional guides guiding to the city of Cracow. It is the first independent association of guides in Poland, organized like other european guides' associations.
The main aim of SPT is undertaking initiatives of legal and organizational character to give guiding a proper rank and importance in tourism and city structures, to secure the subjectivity of guiding organizations.
The Association cares for raising the image of the touristic guide profession, for securing collective professsional interests of guides. Promotes general codes of ethics and competence, supports and creates the highest professional standards.
The care for the permanent schooling of guides and enabling the exchange the experiences and giving them the current information is the goal of special care.
SPT in Cracow is member of the following organizations: Krakowska Izba Turystyki, Małopolska Organizacja Turystyczna, Towarzystwo Miłośników Historii i Zabytków Krakowa. Actively cooperates with the Municipal Authorities of the city of Cracow and other organizations connected with tourism and culture. Organizes together with The Municipal Authorities of the city of Cracow celebrations of The International Tourist Guide Day (ITGD).
SPT was honoured with medals: "Za zasługi dla turystyki" granted by the Ministry of Economy, "Kraków 2000" granted by the President of the city of Cracow, "10-lecia Krakowskiej Izby Turystycznej" granted by Krakowska Izba Turystyki.
Association associates 137 members. Is open to new members popularizing the Association's ideas.
